SAINT PETERSBURG, September 11. The international congress Sport and Health is currently taking place in Saint Petersburg. As a Rosbalt correspondent was informed by the press office of the Saint Petersburg governor, the event is dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the city. The opening ceremony on September 9 featured members of the city administration, famous international scientists as well as well-known sportsmen.

Participants at the congress are discussing the role of government in developing sport, sport and business, sport in the fight against terrorism and also sociological, legal and ethical questions involved in sport. The results of recent design and research will also be presented as well as practical skills.

The congress is being organised by the international Olympics congress, UNESCO, the administration of Saint Petersburg, the Saint Petersburg State Academy of Sport and other organisations. The congress will last until September 12.
