A delegation of the French Senate is currently visiting Saint Petersburg and has already met Vataniar Yagiar, a representative of the city's legislative assembly.
As a Rosbalt correspondent was informed by the press office of the legislative assembly, the French delegation is headed by President of the Senate Committee for Economics Sir Gerard Larcher. After Saint Petersburg the French guests plan to visit Tiumen and Krasnodar with the intention of raising French-Russian ties in the transport, energy and agriculture industries.
'Saint Petersburg is one of the most beautiful cities in the world and our priority here is cultural ties,' Sir Larcher said. Mr Yagia pointed out that a large exhibition had been held in Paris this summer including exhibits from the museums of Saint Petersburg and a delegation of the Russian Federal Assembly, headed by Chairman Sergei Mironov, visited France in May, which shows how much French-Russian bilateral ties are developing. Mr Yagia told his guests about the structure and authority of the city's legislative assembly and about the interaction between the executive and legislative branches of city government.
