On October 26 Gustavo Kuerten won St.Petersburg Open and got the prixe money of 1 million dollars.

In the final game Gustavo Kuerten defeated the Armenian tennis player Sargis Sargsan. According to ATPtennis.com Gustavo Kuerten now occupies the 15th place in current champions race (in final champions race 2002 he was on the 36th place).

His 2003 highlights include, apart from his Saint-Petersburg victory, being Auckland Finalist, Indian Wells TMS Semifinalist, Costa Do Sauipe, Acapulco, Buenos Aires Quarterfinalist, Long Island, Barcelona, Los Angeles Doubles Semifinalist.
