Days of the Northwest region of Russia begin in ItalyDays of the Northwest region of Russia begin in Italy. The primary events take place November 3-5 in northern Italy including the country's most developed region of Lombardy and Italy's industrial and financial center - Milan. Moreover, business meetings are also planned in Genoa and Venice. The office of the presidential plenipotentiary of the Northwest Federal District is organized and prepared to promote an attractive image of the region, create optimal conditions for the export of Russian products and attract foreign investment. The region's presentation is timed with the official visit of President Vladimir Putin, which is slated for November 5. A multifunctional exhibition St. Petersburg is 300: Russia, Open to the World, which includes a cycle of exhibitions which also traveled to London and Berlin, will run in parallel with the region's presentation.
The Russian delegation is led by Deputy Presidential Plenipotentiary in the Northwest District Lyubov Sovershaeva, regional governors, representatives of the administration and directors of leading industrial companies. Finance Minister Alexey Kudrin and Presidential Plenipotentiary in the Northwest District Ilya Klebanov along with a number of deputies of federal ministries and departments are also expected to take part.
The program opens today with an exposition entitled Russia-Italy: Business Cooperation. Members of the Northwest Region and St. Petersburg delegations will meet with the mayor of Milan and Lombardy Region president. A photo exhibition entitled Milan and St. Petersburg: Similarities of Two Large European Cities will also open in Milan.
Representatives of the Northwest District will take part in round tables dedicated to the perspective of development of metallurgy, timber industry and tourism in Northwest Russia. They will also conduct talks on cooperation in regard to shoe industry. On the night of November 3 a session of the world club of Petersburgers will be held in Miland. On November 4 a conference entitled Business and Investment Possibilities in Northwest Russia will open. The conference will include an exhibition of federal ministries and departments, which will also showcase all the subjects of the northwest federal district. On November 5 a business meeting with entrepeneurs from Milan, Turin, Lombardy and Piemont will take place.
