Swedish furniture retailer IKEA Kudrovo will conduct an ecological impact study of its superstore on Murmansk highway, said the Northwest Russia District Director for Environmental Protection Sergei Yakutseni. Yakutseni added that IKEA Kurdrovo violated laws by beginning construction on their superstore before receiving approval from the state ecology agency.

During the course of an inspection last month the agency concluded that IKEA Kurdrovo did not have the necessary approval and closed construction on the site. Moreover, the agency's leadership filed suit in Khimki, Moscow Region where the main office of IKEA Russia is located.
