Seven people have declared that they will run for the State Duma in St. Petersburg's electoral district No. 207, Interfax quoted the district election commission.The district has no representative after more people voted "against all" than for any candidate in the Dec. 7 Duma elections.
Among those seeking the seat are Anna Markova, a former city vice governor and candidate for governor last year, former Duma deputy Grigory Tomchin, a member of the Russian Communist Workers' Party, Gennady Turetsky, a member of the nationalist LDPR party, and independents Nikolai Kozlov, Elvira Sharova and Andrei Yelganinov, the report said.
The closing date for filing to run is Jan. 20 and candidates must provide the documents for registration by Jan. 29. The election will be held on March 14 at the same time as the presidential elections.
