Human Trafficking Conference Opens in Karelia

human_trafficking_conference PETROZAVODSK, August 12 (RIA Novosti - Northwest) - Prevention of Violence and Hunan Trafficking, an international conference, will open on Thursday in Petrozavodsk, the capital of the Republic of Karelia (Northwestern Federal District), a spokesman for the city's press center told RIA Novosti.

The conference will be attended by the leaders of public organizations, representatives of law enforcement agencies and representatives of government bodies from Russia, Sweden and the United States. The foreign participants will share their experience in combating violence and human trafficking.

In particular, they will discuss issues connected with sex slave trade (forcing Russian immigrants into prostitution).

Representatives from the American and Swedish immigration services will speak about the methods used in their countries to prevent such crimes.
