St.Petersburg, September 9 (RIA Novosti) - A scientific and theoretical conference organized by the oldest Russian shipbuilding company, Admiralteiskiye Verfi, will be held in St. Petersburg September 9 and 10.

A spokesman for the company said the Role and Importance of Admiralteiskiye Verfi in the Scientific and Technological Development of the Russian and Global Shipbuilding Industry conference would focus on the current state and perspectives of Russia's military and merchant fleets and the shipbuilding industry in general. The conference coincides with the 300th anniversary of Admiralteiskiye Verfi (the construction of St. Petersburg, actually began with the construction of shipyards).

Representatives from most of the design and research institutes in the industry as well as from the country's leading shipbuilding companies will attend the conference.

The spokesman said there would be eight parts to the conference including: construction of submarines: deep water apparatus; building surface ships; information technologies of design and production preparation; and the development of ship machine-building at Admiralteiskiye Verfi and other companies in the industry,

Admiralteiskiye Verfi is the oldest shipbuilding yard in Russia. On November 5, 2004, it celebrates the 300th anniversary of when Peter the Great founded the company.
