A Russian delegation participating in the Euronaval-2004 presented Tuesday in the Parisian suburbs of le Bourget the second international naval show to be staged in St.Petersburg from June 29 to July 3, 2005.

"The naval show in St.Petersburg is not an alternative to the Euronaval but the continued idea of cooperation between various countries and naval technology design," said Igor Belousov, the head of the Russian delegation. St.Petersburg show will be distinguished for granting access not only to warships' mock-ups and specifications but also to life-size vessels.

The St.Petersburg show is expected to display more than 15 Russian warships, including the latest Diesel electricity-powered submarine of the fourth generation, Amur-1650, the mock-up of which is exhibited at the Euronaval.

Besides, the naval show plans visits to St.Petersburg factories concentrating, according to the Naval Show organisers, 80 percent of the scientific and production potential of the Russian ship-building industry as well as to proving grounds where shipborne artillery systems and naval aviation will be demonstrated.

There are hopes that the 2005 naval show will surpass the results of the previous show which boasted about 10,000 visitors in 2003. A substantial increase in foreign participants is expected.

More than half of all the exhibition area has been already reserved while applications for participation in the show have been submitted by more than 200 companies, including 50 foreign firms.
