The 9th international exhibition, St. Petersburg Jeweller 2004, is opening at the Manezh Central Exhibition Hall in St. Petersburg today.
According to the organizing committee, about 1,000 Russian and foreign craftsmen are to participate. Both renowned jewellers and beginners are to display their best works.
Jewellery made of precious and semiprecious stones and metals, products of stone-cutting, items of interior design, collection gems, semiprecious raw materials, facing materials, jeweller's tools and equipment, books on geology and jeweller's art will be on display.
A competition, Jewellery Plastic Arts in Tin Miniatures, will be held within the framework of the exhibition, as will the Jeweller's Olympus international competition that will involve about 350 Russian and foreign jewellers and stone engravers.
Besides, the program of the event includes a geological show and a children's carnival costume festival, New Year Fantasies.
The business segment of the program of St. Petersburg Jeweller 2004 comprises seminars on rules of jewellery acquisition and sales, supervisory bodies' operation and Russian jewellery traditions.
