The second Russian-American forum on the use of law enforcement technologies in countering terrorism has opened in St. Petersburg on Tuesday.
Prevention of bomb attacks is written large on its agenda.
Law enforcers and representatives of scientific and technological institutes of the two countries take part in the conference.
They will exchange during several days the experience of developing, manufacturing and practically using special equipment, communications and collective defence, the press service of the Russian Interior Ministry’s branch in the Northwestern Federal District told Itar-Tass.
Operation of technical means in field conditions will be demonstrated at the forum.
A company of interior troops will show operations to localise terrorists in different conditions.
The first meeting of specialists in such format was held in the US in 2004.
This year, associates of leading research and design institutes of Moscow, St. Petersburg and Novosibirsk attend the forum.
They will demonstrate their latest developments.
Organisers of the forum, who are the Russian Interior Ministry’s main directorate in the Northwestern Federal District and St. Petersburg’s science and production association of special materials, hope that the meeting would help promotion of Russia’s products on foreign markets
