The former Senate and Synod building located on Senate Square will be used for state's needs after the State Historical Archive moves out, Interfax reported Monday quoting the presidential property department.
"Nothing will be placed in the Senate and Synod building that could bother city residents," Interfax cited department head Vladimir Kozhin as saying Saturday. "The building will be used strictly for state's needs. What needs those will be will be clear in the near future."
Local media reported Monday that the Kremlin plans to locate one of the federal courts in the buildings.
"We have the chance now to finish a new building for the historical archive, which would be completed by September 2005," Interfax cited Governor Valentina Matviyenko as saying. "Now it is located in a building in the historical part of the city, which isn't suited to storing archive materials."
