A contract for the construction of the second stage of the Mariinsky Theater is to be signed in Moscow with French architect Dominique Perreau on July 12, Interfax reported Tuesday.
The director of the Federal Agency of Culture and Cinematography, Mikhail Shvydkoi, said the final cost of the project has not been decided upon, but this is to be negotiated with Perreau.
Shvydkoi estimated that general building work will be concluded early in 2008, and the building will open for performances late that year.
