The Finnish President, Tarja Halonen, opened the new tyre factory of Nokian Tyres in Vsevolozhsk, east from St Petersburg, on Thursday. President Halonen said in her speech that she considered the investment made by the Finnish tyre manufacturer a sign of good partnership and near abroad co-opearation.
Nokian Tyres chief executive Kim Gran says the company will invest heavily into the factory in the next few years. This year the factory will make some 300,000 tyres, but production capacity is to be stepped up in coming years.
