Governor Valentina Matviyenko of St. Petersburg has been visiting Vietnam in an effort to further tighten friendship and co-operative relations in many fields with the country.
She was received by Deputy Prime Minister Vu Khoan on December 7, who highly appreciated the governor's Vietnam visit and expressed that Vietnam places great value on its traditional friendly relations with Russia in general and St. Petersburg in particular.
The governor stressed that St. Petersburg has strength in mechanics, shipbuilding, energy, education and training and has potential in economic, trade and tourism co-operation with Vietnam. The city wishes to import agricultural and aquatic products from Vietnam. (VNA)
