Finland's President Tarja Halonen is to meet her Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin in St. Petersburg on Tuesday, June 13th, the President's Office announced on Monday.
The release also stated that the presidents will discuss bilateral relations between Finland and the Russian Federation, relations between the European Union and Russia, and the upcoming six-month Finnish Presidency of the EU, as well as current international issues.
Presidents Halonen and Putin will also attend the 10th International St. Petersburg Economic Forum, which will deal with a number of current issues including globalisation, competitiveness, and energy supply.
The visit is to take place at the invitation of President Putin.
President Halonen last met with President Putin in September 2005, when she attended the opening ceremony of the new southwestern wastewater treatment plant in St. Petersburg. President Putin was also in Finland on a working visit last August.
