Ford Motor Company will start producing the Ford Mondeo model at its Russian plant in the Leningrad region in September 2008, Ford Russia general director Theo Streit told
journalists in St. Petersburg on Monday.
The plant is planning to produce 25,000 Mondeos in 2009. Total production at the plant, including the Ford Focus, will amount to 125,000 cars next year.
The company plans to hire another 1,000 workers to facilitate the expansion in production, Streit said.
Ford opened its Russian plant in the summer of 2002.
