The procession with cross left Petersburg for Yekaterinburg to commemorate tsar family execution

The procession with cross set off from Petersburg to Yekaterinburg to commemorate the 90th year of the tsar family execution.

Over 250 people participated in it during the two first days on Saturday and Sunday when it was moving along St. Petersburg and its suburbs, a woman-participant told Interfax.

“It was a marvelous site, Petersburg didn’t witness such a large-scale processions with cross for 15 years,” the interviewee of the agency said.

Its participants are going to cover from 25 to 40 km a day and stay in the monasteries for the night.

The procession’s participants – pilgrims from various regions of Russia, Ukraine, Byelorussia, Moldova and other CIS and far abroad countries will cover about 3,000 km on foot.

Pilgrims will pass along the railways thus following the way of Nicholas II to Siberia. Believers from other Russia’s regions will join the procession on its way.

Its organizers note that the procession with cross will be an act of repentance for assassination of the tsar family.

Metropolitan of Ladoga and St. Petersburg Vladimir and Archbishop Vikenty of Yekaterinburg and Verkhoturye blessed the procession with cross.
