Printed from: http://petersburgcity.com/news/city/2009/06/03/peter1/ City news, 03.06.2009 17:18 Petersburg will celebrate the birthday of Peter I (PROGRAM)![]() The first part of the holiday (beginning at 05.00PM) will be held at the Capelle courtyards, where whith the sounds of a brass band and an ensemble of early music will be held defile of the military-historical associations. Also there will be reconstructed excercises of Russian troops in connection with a victory in the Battle of Poltava, there will be presented dramatized historical scenes from the Peter I life. This concert program of the second part will be composed of Western European music - the Swedish, French and the English end of XVII - the first half of XVIII century and is dedicated to Peter's abroad journies. Capella Choir and Orchestra will perform cantata by Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky. After the concert in the courtyards of Capella (from 09.30PM to 10.30PM) will be heard the Russian and Western European music of the XVIII century by the performance of the old music ensemble.
