HRH The Crown Princess opens the exhibition “The Wild Swans” at the State Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg and participates in activities in connection with Green Denmark – Green Fairytale. The Crown Princess begins the visit to St. Petersburg by opening the exhibition “The Wild Swans” at the State Hermitage Museum. The exhibition displays 43 pieces of HM The Queen’s decoupage along with 11 different costumes The Queen designed for the film “The Wild Swans”. The technology behind the film’s creation will also be presented in the exhibition for guests, and the “The Wild Swans” is being shown in one of the museum’s halls. In addition to The Queen’s decoupage works and costumes, selected objects from the Hans Christian Andersen Museum in Odense can been seen. Among them are letters by H.C. Andersen, in which the author tells about the Danish Princess Dagmar and the Princess’s departure from Denmark for Russia. In connection with the exhibition’s opening, the Crown Princess visits students from the Hermitage’s arts academy, where decoupage works and collages inspired by H.C. Andersen’s fairy tales will be made. In addition, the Crown Princess takes part in the Danish Consulate General’s event Green Denmark – Green Fairytale, where she will present the Danish Export Association’s Diploma and HRH Prince Henrik’s Medal of Honour. The Crown Princess also visits several companies in St. Petersburg in extension of the Green Denmark - Green Fairytale event, including the Russian water company Vodokanal, which provides sustainable water supplies, and Baltika Breweries, which entered into a joint venture with Carlsberg in 1992.
