Steve Jobs gets memorial in Russia

Steve Jobs memorial unveiled in Russia
A memorial that commemorates Steve Jobs, the co-founder of Apple and the tech innovator behind the iPod, iPhone and iPad, has just been dedicated in St. Petersburg, Russia, according to a January 9 report. St. Petersburg is on of the two most important cities in Russia.
The memorial is a large iPhone with a photo and video slide show of Mr. Jobs' life and career showing on its display. On the back of this huge iPhone replica is a QR code which observers can scan. This QR code directs them to a web site about Steve Jobs.
The monument itself is in the courtyard of the St. Petersburg National Research University of Information Technologies, Mechanics and Optics.
There are also a memorial to Steve Jobs at a college in Kiev, Ukraine, titled “Thanks, Steve” and another in a science park in Budapest, the capital of Hungary. A monument is also planned in Novoibirsk, the third largest city in Russia.
As of this writing, there are no monuments dedicated to Steve Jobs in the United States (apart from the tribute paid to him by Apple).
Steve Jobs past away in October 2011 at the age of 56, after a long fight with pancreatic cancer.
Mr. Jobs is very respected in Russia and the iPad, iPhone and iPod are very popular products among middle class Russians.
