On May 15, 2016 in St. Petersburg there has begun work the XXIV All-Russian film festival "Long Live Cinema of Russia!". The governor Georgy Poltavchenko has participated in an opening ceremony which has taken place in BKZ "October". "The Russian cinema has begun in St. Petersburg. 120 years ago in the garden "Aquarium" on which place the film studio "Lenfilm" is located now the movie of brothers Lumiere has been for the first time shown", - the governor has told. He has noted that the oldest film studio in the country has presented to the world a set of remarkable movies, has opened names of the directors, screenwriters and actors who have made the glory of domestic cinema. "Anniversary year we meet with optimism. On "Lenfilm" new film premieres prepare, honoured masters continue to work, new talented actors and directors come", - Georgy Poltavchenko has told, having emphasized that now the city together with "Lenfilm" develops the new concept of development of a film studio. The governor has wished to contestants of good luck, and the audience – the best impressions of the festival program.
** The Long Live Cinema of Russia! Film festival - the festival, largest in the country, devoted to domestic cinema. In movie theatres of St. Petersburg within five festival days, from May 15 to May 19, there will take place free, premier and retrospective displays of movies with participation of film crews and the famous guests of a festival.
