St. Petersburgers and guests of the city came to Italianskaya Street with shoe laces in their hands. They inserted these coloured laces into the bronze shoes of the great Russian literary con man, Ostap Bender. A monument to this literary character has been erected in St. Petersburg recently. The ceremony of inserting laces into the sculpture's shoes became first in a sequence of humorous meetings and ceremonies related to this year's "Golden Ostap" festival. Photo by Yu.
