09.19.2001 12:57

C:\Ìîè äîêóìåíòû\pastel_b.jpg Exhibition “Pastels of Western European painters in the Hermitage collections of XVIII - early XX centuries” opened in the 12 Columns Hall of the New Hermitage. 65 masterpieces of French, German, Swedish, Norwegian and Italian artists are displayed, among them – works by Renoir, Manet, Degas, Picasso. However, the exhibition's conception is not just to show single bright works but to let a viewer get a general idea of the museum's collection and show the development of the pastel technique and style. The last big exposition of pastel works was held in Hermitage 30 years ago.
