A museum of savings history will be opened by the 160-year anniversary of Sberbank (the Saving bank). The first saving bank in St. Petersburg was opened March, 1 1842 at Kasanskaya street, 7. Documents, articles, photographs will be the displays of the new museum. Among them are old accounts, collection of banknotes, starting from coins and banknotes of the end of 19th century and finishing with modern plastic money, bankbooks (the oldest is of 1895). The exhibits were gathered not only by Sberbank personnel but also by citizens. One of them, for example, presented a family money-box, which appeared in his family in 1924.
