By the 300-year anniversary of the North Capital the St. Petersburg State University will acquire the Faculty of Arts.

A new department of the University, called “The Faculty of Arts”, is likely to be headed by the art director of the Mariinsky theatre Valery Gergiev. At least, he declared he is ready to make such a step in his career.

Many relevant disciplines are already being studied by the University students. In the future interested persons can do a profound study of them. According to the University's President, Ludmila Verbitskaya, St. Petersburg needs such kind of specialists.
