Printed from: http://petersburgcity.com/news/culture/2002/01/18/zhurkova/ Culture news, 18.01.2002 18:40 Tatjana Zhurkova’s exhibition opens in St. Petersburg.An exhibition of Tatjana Zhurkova – a Russian artist living and working in America since 1988 – opens in the Stroganovsky Palace of the Russian State Museum.The artist exhibits her work in Russia for the first time. For the last few years Zhurkova has been occupied with designing of unusual creatures – models consisting of small articles of industrial production: plastic scissors, rulers, bricks, simplest toys, porcelain, artificial crystal, beads. In 2001 the artist got a grant of the Pollok and Krasner Fund (New-York), founded by Jackson Pollok and Lee Krasner, for her achievements in modern sculpture. Works of Tatjana Zhurkova are displayed in galleries and private collections of the USA, including the Renwick Gallary of the National Museum of American Art at Smithson Institute (Washington), the Hillwood Museum (Washington).
