Eric Moss has proposed a “Garbage Sack” to Petersburg.
01.24.2002 17:44

The necessity to enlarge the Mariinsky Theatre and construct a new stage became obvious long ago. A variant of the architectural conception for a new stage made by the famous American architect Eric Moss has been presented by now. The building that he proposes to construct consists of two rectangular blocks with opal glass windows of abstract forms. “Garbage Sack” – as the author himself called it – is sure to damage the architecture of the historical part of the city. The international competition for the best architectural solution for a new building of the Mariinsky Theatre continues. Every architect can take part in it.
