But the war prevented these plans – the theatre was evacuated. The composer finished its work in 1944, and the premiere was held in 1945 in Moscow, at the Bolshoy Theatre. At Kirov (Mariinsky) Theatre “Cinderella” appeared in 1946 staged by Konstantin Sergeev. The most famous west staging was performed by Frederick Ashton, at Sadler's Wells Ballet (now Royal Ballet), in 1948.
