Jazz festival Opens in St. Petersburg

The St. Petersburg Philharmonic Society of Jazz music will held IX International festival, “Write Night Swing” on the days of 12, 13 and 14 of July.

The festival concerts will take place in the Philharmonic Halls, under the open sky in the Mikhailovsky Garden and at the largest stage arenas of the city. As the St. Petersburg Culture Committee representatives delivered – there will perform: modern pianist Monti Aleskander, USA, Billie Taylor, a live legend of American jazz, jazz star clarinettist Anti Sarpila from Finland together with “Swedish Swing Society” group; vocalists – Fionna Duncan (Scotland), Evelin White (USA), quartet “New York Stars”, big-band of Danish Radio, quartet “Libe Blues” from Germany, saxophonist Bill Skit (UK), pianist Mark Isaks (Australia), Jeff Holms and his big-band (USA), an assembly of Arild Andersen (Norway), trio of Yanush Strobel’ (Poland), Winton Marsalis and the Linkoln Center orchestra, as well the Russian leading jazz-music players from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Novosibirsk, Kazan’, Samara.

The event is one among the soundest in the St. Petersburg cultural life. It was particularly due to the festival that the St. Petersburg Philharmonic Society Hall has become part of the most famous world concert halls.

Since 1994, Jazz Festival has been regularly held in St. Petersburg during the end June – early July period, chaired by David Goloschekin, music manager.
