Committee on culture of Administration of Saint Petersburg, the State museum of a history of Saint Petersburg, the Ministry of culture of Flanders (Belgium) and Mechelen Royal school of carillon invite you to the First International festival " Petersburg carillon" in the Peter and Paul Fortress (Sobornaja square) from August, 2 till August, 10. The beginning of concerts at 20.00.

September,15, 2001 on a bell tower of the Peter and Paul cathedral carillon- a gift to Saint Petersburg from the government of Flanders and sponsors from many countries of the world - was solemnly open. Carillon of the Peter and Paul cathedral includes 51 bell and sounds in a range of four octaves. On it " bell body " it is possible to play any pieces of music from fugues by Bach to modern jazz improvisations. Now carillon of the Peter and Paul cathedral is unique working kind of such instruments in territory of Russia.

In breaks between performance of bell plays audience will get acquainted to unique musical ensemble Russian Horn capella, also the unique in Russia. In performance of the Horn chapel under S.A.Ezhova's managemen there will be musical compositions by Veber, Beethoven, Glazunov, Glinka, Mozart, Tchaikovsky.
