August, 26 in Saint Petersburg the exhibition of the tatar artists has opened The Action "Artists of 1000-years Kazan - to the 300-anniversary of St. Petersburg" has started in Kazan August, 19. It is dated not only for the 300-anniversary of Saint Petersburg, but also the 1000-anniversary of capital of Tatarstan. The traveling exhibit consisting of works of 13 Kazan artists, for one day stopped in each large city along the route to Saint Petersburg - in Nizhni Novgorod, Yaroslavl, Kostroma, Great Novgorod. Solemn opening of the exhibition was held August, 26 in the Exhibition centre of the St.-Petersburg Union of artists.

Themes of the works presented at the exhibition, include images both christian art, and the Muslim East. "This exhibition will not get lost in great quantity of the expositions weekly opening in Saint Petersburg, - Paul Koshelev, the vice-president of Committee on culture of Administration of Saint Petersburg has declared on ceremony opening of an exhibition. - Kazan has its own way, the avant guarde in which there are also Petersburg roots. Kazan and Saint Petersburg are connected by centuries-old traditions and modern intimate connection".

Petersburg artists are going to follow to an example of the Kazakh colleagues too and to arrange traveling exhibit trough Russia in anniversary for Northern capital 2003.
