According to the order of the Russian Federation Ministry of culture, the Photo centre is formed with the purpose of realization of a public policy in the field of photo art. The major task of new department is collection and restoration of unique fund of the domestic photo, organization of exhibition projects together with the city museums having extensive photo-collections, realization of the international projects, educational, research and cultural-educational work.

The activity of the State photo centre will promote development of all kinds and genres of professional photo art, preservation of creative heritage of the domestic and world photo art largest figures.
