Europastel exhibition has opened in the National History Museum of St. Petersburg and in the Halls of the Union of Russian Painters (ex-Imperial Society for the Promotion of Fine Arts), Europastel is an exhibition of contemporary European pastel painters. The first stage of it took place in Italy, in southern Piedmont simultaneously in six cities in the Province of Cuneo (Alba, Bra, Cuneo, Fossano, Mondově and Magliano Alfieri) in October-November 2002. In Russian stage of Europastel participate about 150-180 pastellists from more than 40 countries from all over the Continent and about 500 works are exhibited.
The main aim of this outstanding exhibition is to organize a European meeting of the pastellists from all over the Continent in two countries with a great cultural and pictorial tradition - Italy and Russia.
The Exhibition Europastel obtained the Patronage of UNESCO and the auspices of the Secretary General of the Council of Europe.
