Ten St. Petersburg venues will be showing 40 best theater productions from all over the country from March 27 to April 14. On March 8, 9, 11, and 13 St. Petersburg will welcome the Bolshoi Theater with its two premieres: Tourandot, an opera and Petit, a ballet production. The festival will open on March 27 in Alexandrinsky Theater. The prizes will be awarded on April 14 in Mariinsky Theater.
Winners of Golden Mask honorary awards have already been announced: Yuri Grigorovich and Lyudmila Zhivykh will receive their Golden Masks in the Honor and Dignity nomination; Gov. Leonid Polezhaev of Omsk Region and Nestle Co. will be honored for support of theater arts, and Josef Nadj of Centre Choregraphique National D'Orleans will be awarded a Golden Mask in the best foreign production nomination for his Wojciech.
The festival will present a number of out-of-competition shows, which St. Petersburg audiences will undoubtedly enjoy. On April 13 Nord-Ost and World Musicals, a gala concert featuring best episodes from famous musicals from all over the world will premiere in St. Petersburg. A charity event will contribute all proceeds to the Academy of Theater Arts. Two gifted students of the Academy will receive stipend awards named after Arkady Raikin and Sergey Yursky. The traditional Russian Case program will be held for foreign impresarios and theater company directors.
