The Festival of Young European Film Directors will take place in the Cinema Center on March 22-30. The event is a part of the EU program for the St. Petersburg tercentennial festivities. City residents will be treated to films never before shown in Russia. The films will be presented by all 15 EU countries, and 21 shows have been scheduled for the festival in the Cinema Center. The feature presentation of the festival is the Belgian film “Pauline and Paulette,” which won an Oscar nomination last year as best foreign film. European Commission Representative in Russia Richard Wright says that the directors presenting the films to be shown in St. Petersburg in two weeks will at some point in time be shooting their blockbusters. During the meeting with the press Mr. Wright invited St. Petersburg residents to attend the festival by all means.
