Exhibition of the classic of Lithuanian photography Antanas Sutkus has opened in NOMI

Photo of Jean-Paul Sartre by Antanas Sutkus Exhibition of the classic of Lithuanian photography Antanas Sutkus has opened in NOMI exhibition hall. The exhibition is dedicated to the Day of Independence of Lithuania and to the anniversary of Saint-Petersburg.

It is impossible to imagine Lithuanian photography without thinking of Antanas Sutkus and his contributions. The talented photographer, Antanas Sutkus deserves the international recognition he has received.He was one of the founders of the Lithuanian Society of Photographic Art in 1969. In 1969-90 and since 1996 he is Chairman of the Photoartists’ Union. Member of the Photoartists’ Union since 1970, and Honorary member since 1993. In 1976 the International Federation of Photographic Art (FIAP) awarded him he title of Artist FIAP (AFIAP), and in 1994 - the title of Excellence FIAP (EFIAP). In 1980 he was awarded the name of Honoured Culture Worker of Lithuania, and in 1990 won the State Award of Lithuania. In 1997 he was decorated with Duke Gediminas’ order of the 4th degree, and in 1998 won the State Award of Art.
