The Youth Orchestra of the European Union will perform in the Grand hall of the Philharmonic

Vladimir Ashkenazi The Orchestra of the European Union directed by Vladimir Ashkenazi will perform in the Grand hall of the St. Petersburg Philharmonic on April 3. This concert is a project which will be implemented under the aegis of the EU by the city’s anniversary.

The European Union Youth Orchestra, which was founded in 1974, started its first concert tour in 1978 with star conductor Claudio Abbado. The orchestra's 140 members represent all 15 countries of the European Union.Austrian State Secretary for Foreign Affairs Benita Ferrero-Waldner once called the orchestra "a model for the cultural integration of Europe."

The concert program will feature the music by Sergey Rakhmaninov – Concert No 3 for piano with orchestra and Symphony No 2, featuring the famous Russian piano player, Alexander Gindin.
