The Sergei Prokofiev International Competition, one of the largest competitions in Russia, organized by the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation and the government of St. Petersburg is held in St. Petersburg from 7 April to 21 April 2003.
The competition will cover three disciplines: symphonic conducting - honored jury chairmen Yuri Temirkanov, composition - jury chairman Rodion Schedrin, piano - jury chairman Vladimir Krainev. Reviewing and performances by the winners will take place in concert halls in St. Petersburg:in Large and Small Halls of the St. Petersburg Philharmonic, in Glazunov Concert Hall of the St. Petersburg Conservatory, in theTheatre of Opera and Ballet of the St. Petersburg Conservatory.
The Fourth International Sergei Prokofiev Competition is dedicated to the 300 year anniversary of the city of St. Petersburg and is part of the cultural program of anniversary events.
