A festival of Japanese culture in Russia began on Saturday in St. Petersburg. "The festival will continue over the course of the year and visit St. Petersburg, Moscow, and cities of the Far East," - Japanese ambassador to Russia Issey Nomura said at a press conference held on Friday at the International Press Center in St. Petersburg.
As part of the festival, a concert of three-stringed instruments Tsugar Syamisen will take place on the stage of the Maly zal of the Shostakovich Philharmonic in St. Petersburg. St. Petersburg jazz musician David Goloshchokin will also participate in the concert. On April 21, Japanese musicians conduct master classes at various learning institutions. On April 22, an exhibition 'Traditional Japanese Ceramics' will open in the Russian Ethnographic Museum in St. Petersburg, and on April 26 the third annual festival 'Japanese Spring in St. Petersburg' will take place.
'The Festival of Japanese Culture in Russia - 2003' is organized by the Japanese Embassy in Russia.
