The restored Italian Hall (SALA ITALIA) and the exhibition of art and design MACEFhave opened in the the Repin Academy of Arts. Both events are financed and organized by Italy under the St. Petersburg Jubilee Program of the Italian Institute of International Commerce (I.C.E.).
Floor of Carrara marble in the Italian Hall has been made by Italian and Russian masters, and the lamps have been created by an Italian company specializing in natural stone lighting.
The exhibition MACEF organized jointly with the exhibition center Fiera Milano will be displayed in the Italian Hall for two weeks. Public will be showed drawings and other objects presenting the history of Italian design during the last 30 years. Exhibition organizers put special emphasis on the evolution of interior decoration.
St. Petersburg will continue to receive gifts from the Italian Institute of International Commerce.“Our cooperation will not be restricted to the jubilee program. Celebration of the St. Petersburg anniversary is a good impetus for developing cooperation between our countries,” said Rocco Gioffre, Director of the St. Petersburg Office of I.C.E.
The program “Italy for the 300th Anniversary of St. Petersburg” includes sixteen projects in total, prepared by the Ministry of Industry jointly with I.C.E. Among them are exhibitions, seminars, cinema festival, fashion shows, Days of Italian Cuisine and many other events.
