“Festival of Festivals”, Russia’s largest non-competitive festival of recent outstanding works of International and Russian cinema will be held in Saint-Petersburg between 23-29 June.
The XI Festival will be devoted to the 300th anniversary of foundation of Petersburg. The festival is under the aegis of UNESCO.The previous tenth edition of the Festival has caught the attention of filmmakers in Russia and over the world and were widely covered by mass media. “Festival of festivals” is noted for its importance as a means of developing cultural inter-relationships between nations. It is hard to overestimate the role of this St. Petersburg festival as a link between the film and the audience, as a wonderful opportunity for film directors and producers to showcase their pictures in one of the world largest cultural centres.
The Festival has such respected partners as the British Council, Goethe Institute, Institute Francaise, Nordic Council of Ministers, Nordisk Kulturfond. From the Russian part, the Festival is supported by such well-known companies as INTERCINEMA, Central Partnership, West, Paradise, Panterra and others. Outstanding public figures and men of art and culture, as well as representatives of business circles, give their support to the St. Petersburg film forum.
The Festival programme consists of the following sections:festival of festivals presents the most important films by foreign filmmakers-winners at International Film Festivals,new cinema of Russia presents films made in Russia the previous year (including experimental and short ones); special programme sections presents works by outstanding Masters of World and Russian cinematography in following sections:master class,retrospectives, special screenings.
