"Looking at Photographs. 125 Masterpieces from the Collection of the Museum of Modern Art, New York" exhibition will open on the 21st of June in the Hermitage. The show reproducing the famous book of the same name by John Sharkovsky, Honourary Director of the MOMA (Museum of Modern Art, New York) Photography Department, is to illustrate the inexhaustible amount of forms and images characteristic of photography as a special artistic technique, idiom and aesthetic medium. Together with traditional types displayed there are works influenced by the avant-garde tendencies of 20th-century art.
25 pictures have been added to the original selection specially for the Russian exhibition, they represent the development of photography in the thirty years elapsed after the first publication of the above-mentioned book.
The photos will be on display till the 31d of August.
