The exhibition will cover the period from the 2nd century to the 19th century, with recent acquisitions increasing the size of the early sections. The Hermitage's Indian collections include around 2,000 works by masters from the 2nd to the 19th centuries. A permanent Indian exhibion was opened at the Hermitage in the late 1950s, with the last major changes being made at the end of the 1970s.
