Goran Bregovic and his Wedding and Funeral Band will perform in the "Oktyabrsky" concert hall at 7 p.m. on October 25. The concert program includes almost all well-known works, such as "Tango" from "Underground", "In the Death Car" (performed by Bregovic himself), "Ederlezi" and "Kalasnikov".
Goran Bregovic became world-famous in 1989, when Emir Kusturica asked him to compose music to "Times of the Gypsies" film. The film got the prize for the best direction at the Cannes Film Festival, and Bregovic won recognition as one of the most successful European composers.
He composed music for French block-buster "La Reine Margot" with Isabelle Adjani, Radu Mihaelanu's film "Train de Vie", continued cooperation with Kusturica by composing music for such films as "Underground" (Palme d'Or at the 1995 Cannes Film Festival) and "Arizona Dream". The music caused a sensation at the European stage and consolidated Bregovic's positions as composer.
In 2000-2001 Goran Bregovic toured around Europe including Paris, Brussels, Antwerp, Barcelona, Warsaw, Istanbul and almost all capitals of Europe.
Due to Bregovic and his popularity Balkan and Gipsy music took its place in modern European music. Festivals of Gipsy music take place all over Europe now.
