Alexandru Darie - art director of the Bulandra theatre, laureate of numerous international theatre prizes and grants, one of the best interpreters of Shakespeare in the world. This time he has chosen not Shakespeare, but Heiner Mueller - a well-known modern writer.
"Anatomy. Titus. The fall of Rome" is a bloody family saga and a parable about each of us. An anatomy of one family, where cruelty gets largeness. A view of ancient passions from the 21st century and theatre of different epochs: from the Shakespearean tragedy to Brecht and from expressionist theatre to farce. It's a provocation. Spectators are placed in a space similar to ancient Coliseum, around a bloody arena.
"Anatomy. Titus. The fall of Rome" performance takes place in the context of the 12th International Festival of the European Theatre Union on the stage of the "Baltiisky Dom" theatre today, on October 22.
