The Choir’s repertoire spans several centuries and includes classical, gospel, and contemporary popular music. It is also noted for its emphasis on preserving the heritage of the spiritual, especially in the historic practices of performance. The Choir tours internationally on a regular basis and appears with the finest American and European orchestras. Appearances on radio and television also are part of its schedule. Highlights include concerts at the White House, tours of South Africa at the request of Bishop Desmond Tutu, and performances in tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Known for its consistency of excellent performances throughout the tenure of Dr. Carter and probably more annual appearances with major orchestras of the United States than any other University Choir, Morgan State University Choir may become one of the main attractions of the festival.
