“St. Petersburg Palaces” Music Festival to be opened today in the Neva City

st petersburg palaces According to Maria Safaryants “Palaces”-is the most refined festival to popularize the classic music”. This year the concerts will take place in the Mikhaylovskiy, Menshikovskiy, Mramorny, Sheremetyevskiy, Yusupovskiy, Gatchinskiy, Grand Ekaterininskiy and Petergofskiy Palaces, as well as in the Hermitage Theatre, Mikhalovskiy Fortress and for the first time in the Rotunda of the Mariinskiy Palace. Soloists and groups from 10 countries will present different composer schools. The founder of the Festival is the conductor and composer Konstantin Orbelyan.

Today in the Grand-Hall of the Philharmonic Society the festival will be opened by the State Academic Chamber Orchestra of the Russian Federation conducted by Konstantin Orbelyan, French Pianist Jan-Bernar Pomier and the stars of the World Opera Geram Grigoryan and VasiliyGorello will sing solo. The Italian Saxophone Orchestra conducted by Federico Mondelci, the Estonian Choir “Hortus Musicus” , the American Choir “Francis Pulenk Trio”, the United European Choir of the Old Music, the Choir of the Madrid Polytechnic Universtity, masters in the Ethnic Music Dzhivan Gasparyan and Seyran Avakyan and one of the best modern percussion instruments performers Neboysha Zhivkovich are also in the program of the festival.

An American violinist Hillary Khan who is one of the “four best violinists in the world” will perform for the Russian audience for the first time. Among soloists there are Russian pianists Stanislav Igolinskiy, Pavel Egorov, Sergey Uryvaev, virtuosos Alexander Rudin, Yulian Milkis. The vocal art will be presented by the Litovian singer Yudita Leytayte, Italian singer Gabriella Costa, American singer Sally Munro, and also by Oleg Bezinskiy who “for the last two years could be heard on this festival only”. The Presentation-Concert for the yang singer Sabina who has become a laureate in the “Utrennyaya Zvezda” Festival, the “Golos Azii”Festival and in the Macedonian Music Festival , will take place also.

One of the most unusual projects of the festival is a concert of 11 July that is to be held on the occasion of the centenary of the birth of the Crown Prince Alexey in the Grand Petergof Palace . Besides the musical program in the context of the festival will be presented the “Sextet” suits collection designed specially for the present festival by the theatre artist Elena Sazanova.

The festival is supported by the Plenipotentiary Representation of the President of the Russian Federation in the North - West Federal District, the Press Committee and The Public Relations Committee of the Administration of St. Petersburg , the Diplomatic Representations of Spain, USA, France, Latvia and Germany. The festival will come to the end in 19 July.
