The "Golden Gates," a children's group from St. Petersburg, Russia, will be performing at the Community United Methodist Church in Cochituate Village in Wayland, on Saturday, Jan. 7, at 7 p.m. The group was created in 1993 and is made up of 10 singers and dancers ranging in age from 9-13.
Everyone is welcome to this special event. There is no charge for admission, but a free will offering will be available.
The group has performed at many cultural events, folk festivals and concerts throughout Russia and Europe, as well as the United States. They have received many awards for their exceptional talent and traditional representation of the Russian folk culture by the young children. The concert program includes songs, rituals, folk stories and games. This is an opportunity for people to see and hear the traditions of Russia through the songs, dances and audience participation.
