Library to host Russian reviewer

kremlin_book Dr. Aleksandr Timofeev will present at public review of the book "Godfather in the Kremlin," at 5:30 p.m. Monday at the Moore Public Library, 225 S. Howard.

"This is one of our regular book discussion meetings, but with a twist," says Moore librarian Brenda Johnson. "This time we will be hearing about a book we have not read and learning about how reviewers work."

Timofeev was born in Leningrad (now Saint Petersburg) in the Soviet Union. He graduated from Leningrad State University, earned his doctoral degree at the Institute of Russian Literature of the Russian Academy of Sciences and is a member of the Saint Petersburg Writers' Union.

He is the author of seven books on Russian poet Mikhail Kuzmin and other aspects of Russian literary modernism as well as translations of American writers. He has held visiting professorships at universities in L'Aquila, Rome, Siena and Salerno in Italy and was Fae Rawdon Norris Visiting Professor in the Humanities at Oklahoma State University in 1998. He has been employed as senior research at the National Pushkin Museum in St. Petersburg, editor for Inapress publishing house and senior researcher for the Library-Foundation "Outside Russia."

Timofeev is visiting Oklahoma with his wife Larisa Zhitkova. His program at the Moore Public Library is funded by the Oklahoma Humanities Council.

No registration is required for the event. For more information, call Johnson at 793-5100.
